The previous week. I search for information on the Weber 6492 Original Instant-Read Thermometer, so i would like to bring a story to tell.

I purchased the 6492 Weber in the middle of August 2014 and it worked fine until this week when, as others have reported, the initial temperature reading jumping around and occasionally settled on a non-reading of "LL". I'm not hard on my stuff because I want them last. I have dealt with this thermometer, in particular, as if it were fragile as an egg. but four days before Christmas, still cooking to be done, has stopped working properly. I didn't have the time or inclination to go out and buy another thermometer, so I thought it was worth a try to change the battery, the battery is accessible by turning counter-clockwise with respect to the rear of the front of the housing (the part with the buttons and LCD). as it turned out, the battery was fine but the contacts must have had a little oxidation that prevents it from communicating with the sensor in the front. After cleaning the contacts gently with a soft piece of fabric, works fine now.
